Remembered Christmas

I once thought that Christmas meant sleigh bells and snows
And gifts gaily tied with bright ribbons and bows,
Till one day an old man with a much wiser head
(Who spoke not religion but lived it instead)
And knowing, on Christmas, the gifts would be few
Succeeded in changing my whole point of view.
For pulling a chair along side me one day,
He talked and he whittled an old board away.

"Christmas," he told me, "is a way of livin',
Not ours for the takin' but ours for the givin'.
The best gifts are not tied with ribbons and bows
Things like love and faith and cheery "hello's.'
And whether a Christmas is bounteous or lean,
It's the birthday of Christ _ Do you get what I mean?"
The bell that he rang was as clear as could be,
And Christmas took on a new meaning for me.

Our snowman that year (best of them all)
Wore his stovepipe hat more stately and tall,
And the popcorn popped to the very last grain,
And somehow we managed one big candy cane.
The carols that year rang out so much sweeter;
Two little tin soldiers played follow the leader!
Though sparse were the gifts, the tree held much splendor,
For that year it glowed with thoughts of the sender!

Remembered Christmas! Could I ever forget
Those words of wisdom that abide with me yet?
Our Christmas that year was the best that we'd had,
For that wise old man, guess you know, was my Dad.
Today, because of him, the snow falls whiter
And I know the star of the east shines much brighter;
And whether a Christmas is bounteous or lean,
It's the birthday of Christ_Do you know what I mean?

Greatest Gift

Christmas is coming very soon,
A time for joy and mirth.
Time to celebrate once again,
Our Savior Jesus’ birth!

Most are truly happy to see,
Holidays come once more.
Decorations pretty and bright,
Christmas wreaths on the door!

Yet, there are some that feel lonely,
Family visits may be few.
Everyone is busy it seems,
So many things to do.

They wait and think of Christmas' past,
Oh! how sweet they were.
Santa Clause and Christmas trees!
The household all astir!

They long to see their loved ones,
And hope it will be soon.
They think of happy times gone past,
When they hear a Christmas tune.

Maybe tomorrow they will come,
Dear Lord, please bring them home.
Oh, this would be the greatest gift,
That they have ever known!

Twasn't me

HEY!!!!

Who's the wise guy

That threw that snowball

Hit my head

AND MADE ME FALL?!?!?!?!

'Twasn't me ....

'Cause I'm jugglin' these snowballs

round and round

If I threw one ...

All the rest would land on the ground!

'Twasn't me ....

'Cause I'm real nice

And I've been right here

Skating on the ice

'Twasn't me ....

'Cause I'm not pickin' up

this cold ol' snow

It's already freezin' my feet

ya know!

'Twasn't me ....

And do you know why?

I could never do that to anybody

'Cause I'm too shy

Well ....

'Twasn't any of those guys

I just wonder

WHO Could it BE?!

'TWAS ME!!!

'TWAS ME!!!

HEE ... HEE ... HEE

LOOK OUT !!!!!!

SNOWBALL COMIN' THROUGH!!

AND THIS ONE IS HEADED

STRAIGHT FOR YOU!!

Smells of Christmas

I love the smell of Christmas,
along with all the lights.
Log fires in the fire place,
on those cold winter nights.
The smell of Christmas goodies,
that are baked with tender care.
The smell is just the greatest,
there’s nothing to compare.
The evergreen’s so fragrant,
the smell of Christmas season.
Like the hanging of mistletoe,
thats done for a good reason.
The red berries of the holly,
in that arrangement on the table.
Which I’m sure is much better ,
then Christmas in that stable.
Poinsettia’s all around,
to balance off the garland.
Music boxes everyplace,
bought by my sweet darlin’.
Cinnamon and Peppermint,
fills the air thats in our house.
And what is stirring in the night,
is not the Christmas mouse.
Those pies that make me drool,
just sitting there on that shelf.
Is as if they were made special,
for that jolly old Christmas elf.

Grown-Up

For the Children or the Grown-Ups

Parents, Grandparents enjoying Christmas Eve being a child again. A good inspirational Christmas poems composed by an Anonymous Author
Tis the week before Christmas and every night
As soon as the children are snuggled up tight
And have sleepily murmured their wishes and prayers,
Such fun as goes on in the parlour downstairs!
For Father, Big Brother, and Grandfather too,
Start in with great vigour their youth to renew.
The Grown-ups are having great fun – all is well;
And they play till it’s long past their hour for bed.
They try to solve puzzles and each one enjoys
The magical thrill of mechanical toys,
Even Mother must play with a doll that can talk,
And if you assist it, it’s able to walk.
It’s really no matter if paint may be scratched,
Or a cogwheel, a nut, or a bolt gets detached;
The grown-ups are having great fun – all is well;
The children don’t know it, and Santa won’t tell.

Decorations Of The Heart

As we look at the decorations on the Christmas Tree, we are filled with a sense of beauty and peace. Without the decorations on the tree it would look bare and not as pretty.

What about our hearts? Are they decorated with the Love of Jesus? When others look at us, do they see the Love of Jesus shining from our hearts?

My Mother told me that she always knew when I was happy, that my eyes would sparkle. Are our hearts sparkling with Love, Joy, Peace, and Happiness?

There are many countless people who are lonely and discouraged and they need encouragement. We can not encourage anyone if we do not have the Love of Jesus shining brightly in our hearts.

There is a song I used to sing in Sunday School that said, This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine. Let me encourage you to let others see your light shining brightly so that they may not only be encouraged but also be filled with warmth and comfort.

Reflections In December

December is the most wonderful time of the year,
With bright chilly days and crisply cool nights.
Aromas announcing the season waft from kitchens
As homes brightly sparkle with a myriad of lights.

Of this one thing we can be certain,
Whether you celebrate with mennorah or tree,
It's the time for the giving of gifts; of caring,
And experiencing the love God gives . . . it's free!

The season for reflections; A time to count blessings;
For friends and families to each other draw near,
Giving gifts, love, peace, good will, and great joy;
Creating memories that we'll cherish all through the year.

A special season to be shared with all
With a smile, a nod, and a cheery, "Hello"
A time made to build memories
That give joy when now becomes long ago.

When giving our gifts, we all should remember
A truth that rings true from coast to coast;
Gifts need not be expensive or costly;
It's the gift from the heart that counts the most.
